Evelyn Goldman

Hi, I’m Evelyn Goldman (she/her), the artist behind Romance and Mishegoss. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling — whether through words, images, or art. Over the years, I’ve explored just about every craft you can imagine, but it was in 2024, while creating a display for Jewish American Heritage Month at the library where I work, that I stumbled into something that felt like home: Jewish papercutting.

So with a sharp crafting knife and a keen sense of courage, I decided to try recreating a few simple designs for my display. I was instantly hooked. Papercutting combined everything I loved: pushing the bounds of dimension, playing with shadows and light, puzzling out how to make paper bend to my designs without ripping, and most importantly, my love of Judaism.

Within weeks, what started as a passion project grew into Romance and Mishegoss, my papercutting studio.

Thank you for being part of my story. I hope I can be part of yours.
