Description
A girl’s Hebrew name deserves to be seen, held, and honored in a form thats lasting. This hand-cut papercut is created to mark a bat mitzvah or baby naming with care and intention, combining traditional Jewish paper cutting with inlaid watercolor and hand-selected papers.
Each piece is designed around the individual. For a bat mitzvah, I can weave in her interests, talents, or Torah portion. The example shown was created for a girl who loves music, plays the viola, and whose Torah portion described the rules for building the Tabernacle and Menorah. For a baby naming, the design centers on her Hebrew name and motifs of growth, protection, and blessing.
Fresh botanical forms draw from vintage aesthetics and the long history of Jewish papercutting, while layered papers and bright watercolor elements bring depth and softness. The finished work is mounted on a rich background and matted, ready to frame and live as part of a family’s story.
